The time came, we finally had the Huawei Mate 30 Pro for a field test and "real life". Few phones have caused such a stir in Colombia in recent years and that is due, in large part, to the controversy and doubts raised by the latest Huawei flagship, the successor to the elegant Mate 10 pro and the spectacular Mate 20 Pro.
The experience with the Mate 30 Pro
The phone was delivered to me on a Friday night, just at the beginning of the weekend. The first thing that catches your eye is that it is pretty, very pretty and the round back design looks edgy and modern. If the Mate 20 Pro was nice enough, it beats it without much trouble. The screen, how to describe it? That OLED panel with a very high resolution of 1176 × 2400 pixels causes us to stare for hours, to say that the definition level is good, it is to fall short, also the lateral curvature is well achieved and thought out.

Regarding this last point, do not think that it is something less. The curved screens on the sides are great, but they have a problem. They cause constant accidental touches because, simply, they are a touch surface and there is nowhere else to grab the phone. Huawei engineers seem to have understood this and in apps like games or full-screen videos it doesn't turn out to be a problem, even though fingers touch the edges.

Speaking of performance, the Mate 30 Pro lives up to anything on the market and more. It starts extremely fast, facial recognition is precise (much better than the previous "Mate"), the fingerprint on the screen is also exact and the numerical key is also available as an unlock method.

But hey, we still have the "elephant the fourth", that topic that is impossible to avoid, and that will be the one that leaves more than one wondering whether or not to buy the Mate 30 Pro. This is an Android phone Android 10 comes from the factory and the customization layer is EMUI 10 , so in terms of customization and services, we are at the top of the range.

But, what you and I want is the full experience, a Mate 30 Pro that behaves like any other Android on the market, that makes use of that super powerful 7 nanometers HiSilicon Kirin 990, that takes those 8 Gigs of RAM and 256 gigabytes of internal storage and allow us to watch videos on YouTube, Movies on Netflix and play as if there was no tomorrow, is it possible? If it is, but do it at your own risk (if something goes wrong, no one will give you a guarantee for obvious reasons since it is an unofficial method and is not supported by any of the companies in question).
If you manage to get around that test, you could enjoy one of the most capable phones sold in Colombia and, also, make the most of the Freebuds 3, the Watch GT2, the wireless charger or the 200 Gigs of cloud storage that It includes this Mate 30 Pro, it seems Huawei did not come with half measures.
Leaving that behind, the advice is to start by taking photos, many, many photos because the 4 cameras, being the main one and the ultra-wide-angle 40 Mpxl, the 8-inch TV and also a “ToF” for better depth, show off.

Effects and other capabilities are the order of the day with no problem in both photography and video and the sound is great. Music on Spotify must be heard very well with those Freebuds included in the promotion for Colombia.

Worth it? The process to put the app store is easy and does not take long. My Nod32 Mobile did not detect any security risk and the entire experience is as simple as on any Android 10. Now, perhaps the only thing different is that it did not allow me to download any movie on Netflix just watch them online.
What a great weekend! What a good proposal the Huawei Mate 30 Pro and, for my part, I look forward to spending more time with this flagship.
